Semper Lighting Range

The Semper Lighting Range, the first light to join Raffield's collection that features a pivoting, fully adjustable ply-wood frame (which allows the user to customise the direction of the light in their home) is set to be a triumph.

Centred around the Latin word for ‘always’, Semper’s shifting form and changeable lighting effects is representative of the seasonal movement and varying light levels of the Sun's path. Inviting change with its tilting layers, Semper caters for multi-tasking modern spaces and passes the curation of home lighting to the hands of the user.

Semper Pendant

Handcrafted from sustainably sourced oak or walnut wood, the Semper Pendant features a centralised, cylindrical wooden frame secured by a solid brass axis and two rotating outer timber layers.

Adaptable and intuitive by design, the versatile Semper Pendant can be positioned to eclipse its bulb by aligning all three layers in a horizontal ‘drum’ formation for a dramatic downlight, or angled to guide focused beams of light by tilting each section to release a bright, directional display wherever you need it.

Semper Pendant Small

Raffield's Semper Pendant Small is well suited as a standalone centrepiece, or as a self-curated constellation for greater impact. This clever wooden pendant, the smaller size of it's standard sized counterpart, will create a beautiful ambience in hallways, bedrooms and living spaces alike.

Available in Tom Raffield’s iconic trio of sustainably sourced timbers – ash, oak, or walnut.

Maya Wall Planter

Introducing an exciting addition to Tom’s sought-after Green Range, the Maya Wall Planter is the answer to spaces that are calling out for greenery but lack surface area to display indoor houseplants.

A steam bent oval hoop of sustainable ash wood is skilfully forged together with a curved scarf join to provide strength and stability whilst gently cradling a tactile, hand-glazed earthenware bowl.

Thoughtfully designed to rest against your wall by a tan leather handle, the compact planter is perfect for showcasing your houseplants, herbs, or homegrown produce without taking up too much space.

The Maya Wall Planter is  well suited to living rooms, hallways, offices and kitchens and functions well as a standalone design or displayed in group formation.

Verso Wall Light

Complementing one of Tom’s newest lighting ranges, the Verso Wall Light brings wooden art forms to wall spaces.

An ornate marriage of balance and light, the Verso Range is an asymmetrical wooden work of art that welcomes a fresh perspective. Forged from the Latin word to ‘spin’, the sculptural Verso Lighting Range calls back to nature and showcases the gravity defying, swooping motion of falling leaves in the wind.

Igniting creativity within your space, the Verso Range looks different from every angle and exhibits its varying form to add playful personality to a wide range of interiors.

Looping to create eye-catching asymmetry, the Verso Wall Light is carefully crafted from one continuous length of sustainably sourced timber that soars around the warm glow of an exposed bulb to cast a beautiful blend of light and shadow.

The innovative design can be positioned at different angles to create focused lighting within your space, from cosy reading corners and hardworking hallways to calming bedside spaces, its varying form adds playful personality to a wide range of interiors.

About Tom Raffield

Our purpose is to create new ways of living with our original, timeless objects that are inspired by the natural world that surrounds us here in Cornwall. Our artisan homeware designs are handcrafted by our skilled team to last a lifetime using traditional craft processes in sustainable and innovative ways. We aim to transform spaces and leave a lasting impact without having an impact on the very thing that drives us - nature. We are the antidote to over consumption and hope to inspire a like-minded conscious community, helping to create a world where people and nature thrive for future generations to enjoy.

Since discovering the traditional, age-old technique of steam bending wood whilst studying his degree in 3D Sustainability & Design, Tom has been on an incredible self-taught journey of developing and understanding the process to become one of the world leaders in his craft. Tom’s fascination with the ecological technique allows him to create intricate curves and twists, mimicking organic shapes and celebrating the very thing that inspires him - nature.

Tom Raffield is one of a new generation of designers and makers, using his craft in innovative and contemporary ways. Leading the charge in sustainable design, he is driven to forge a path to excellence and cause as little environmental impact as possible along the way.

His passion and skill are now shared with his talented team of craftspeople, together they create objects that symbolise nature, tell a story and will last a lifetime, all whilst protecting the natural world.

“Each piece we create has been on an experimental journey - individual, organic and carefully considered. We source everything from sustainable woodlands, which, coupled with the low energy steam bending process, is a very ecological practice with little wastage,” explains Tom Raffield, founder.

Handcrafted in their BREEAM Excellent studios in Cornwall, England, the range of contemporary lighting, furniture and accessories Tom Raffield creates is based on beauty, integrity and a desire to create unique, high specification objects that will be cherished by their owners for years to come.
