Handcrafted joy. Passion and skills, passed down through the generations. There’s a sense of wonder and nostalgia that a workshop brings, and our wooden workshop here at Tom Raffield is no different.

Beginning with a self-taught journey on the age-old technique of steam bending wood, our workshop is where Tom and the team excel in creating intricate curves and twists, mimicking the organic shapes and lines we see in nature.

With workshops and skilled craftspeople so prominent in festive lore, what better time than now to lean into the beautiful creations leaving our studio to become cherished gifts and statement design pieces.

Always with a view to creating as little environmental impact as possible, here are some of our top picks of the season.

Skipper Pendant

With steam bent loops reminiscent of ribbon across a gift, a trio cluster of our Skipper Pendants twirl and twist in the air, especially striking with their differing heights.

Casting bold shadows across ceilings and walls, the diffused light through each pendant produces ambient task lighting perfect for any open living space. Handcrafted from sustainably sourced European timber and assembled using a dry construction process, the Skipper Pendants offer an array of customisable elements to help light up your homes.

Choose from Ash, Oak or Walnut and either a black or white ceiling kit, paired with brass or brushed steel fittings respectively.

Verso Wireless Wall Light

Forged from the Latin word to ‘spin’, the Verso Lighting Range calls back to nature with its gravity defying structure mimicking the swooping motion of falling leaves in the wind.

An asymmetrical wooden work of art, the Verso Wireless Wall Light creates a warm glow, casting light and shadow across the wall. Handcrafted with just one continuous length of sustainably sourced wood, this renter-friendly, cordless wall light features a rechargeable battery offering 8 hours of life at full power.

Available in Walnut, Ash or Oak, Verso offers form and function in bedrooms, hallways or living spaces. With the ability to be removed from the oak bracket, it’s the perfect addition to tables to add a playful dimension of light across the home.

Urchin Table Light

Featuring 32 taut curves, joined together with laser cut birch plates – manipulated just so, to conceal the bulb, our Urchin Table Light is one of the many wonders of our workshop.

Casting stunning lines of warm light through its strips of wood, the Urchin design is inspired by the sand combed shells spotted upon our Cornish shores. Creating atmosphere in abundance, strips of sustainably sourced oak or walnut are stem bent to the brink before being fixed into shape.

Softening spaces and creating clusters of lighting from atop surfaces like tables and desks, the Urchin Table Light is the perfect addition to hallways, bedrooms or open living areas.
