A guide to decluttering your space.
Clear your mind…
There’s no better or more immediate way to transform your space than to ‘have a proper tidy up’. Clearing away clutter to reveal clean kitchen counters or hanging clothes in your closet is a good quick fix; long-term storage solutions are better. Here is our guide on how you can use sensible storage to de-clutter your space.
Hallway
We'd all like our hallway to create a great first impression, feel welcoming and spacious. A glimpse into your home, the hallway sets the tone for the rest of your space and should, in an ideal world, be free of clutter and mess.
Our Twill Coat Stand threads steam bent lengths of oak to create an intuitive place to hang coats, hats and outerwear. If your hallway is narrow or you want to save even more space, our Burgh Coat Hook is a great option as it offers plentiful storage with a surprising, aesthetic twist.
Living Room/Office
Your living room is often where you relax and unwind at the end of the day. Books, magazines and children’s toys can put a spanner in the works though, cluttering up surfaces and ruining the feng shui of your living room. The office can represent a similar problem – paperwork, loose stationery and other bits and bobs are unnecessary distractions when working form home.
Our Lundy Shelf is the perfect solution. Two pirouetting curves of steam bent oak mimic leather straps, suspending a solid oak shelf on which you can store anything that may be in the way of your workspace.
Top tip: Place trailing plants onto your Lundy Shelf that hang down to incorporate biophilic design into your home.
Bathroom
The bathroom is a haven for clutter. Shampoo bottles, soap, razors, shaving foam…the list goes on. Any number of items can end up creating a mess in your bathroom, and there is not often an obvious place to store these objects. Bathroom cupboards can be small, and many of the items in your bathroom need to be easily accessible as they are frequently used.
Step in, Housel Shelf with Mirror. This intuitive storage solution is as multi-functional as it is stylish. An endless, mesmerising curve holds a handcrafted oak shelf in place, while a mirror rises above it. Combining shelving with a mirror is a fantastic space-saver in a small bathroom, and our Housel Shelf with Mirror will transform yours into a place of style and elegance.
Bedroom
If there is one room in your home that should be truly ‘Zen’, it is your bedroom. Sleep is so important (we spend a third of our lives doing it!) so you should give yourself every opportunity to nod off easily. As research has shown, a sure-fire way of improving your night’s sleep is to start it off with a clean and tidy bedroom. So, say goodbye to your 'floordrobe' and hello to a better way to organise your bedroom.
Our Coat Loop is the perfect place to hand clothes, towels and dressing gowns, while our Tor Twist Shelf is an intuitive piece of storage for photos, plants, clothes or any other small objects that you don’t want cluttering up your surfaces. A few small changes can revolutionise your space and redefine how you store essentials.
Top tip: Try replacing bedside lamps with wall lights to save even more space and give your bedroom an open, airy feel.
