WEEE Recycling Compliance - Tom Raffield

weee

As part of our continued commitment to recycling and protecting the environment, Tom Raffield are proudly part of the Distributor Take Back Scheme (DTS). The DTS is a Government initiative designed to minimise the number of waste electricals and electronic equipment (WEEE) ending up in landfill. Instead, (WEEE) equipment is collected for environmentally sound treatment.

This means, that as a Tom Raffield customer, you'll be able to deposit old electrical and electronic items at recycling sites free of charge.

Why recycle electrical goods?

Unwanted electrical equipment is the UKs fastest growing type of waste. UK households dispose of 1.2 million tonnes of electrical and electronic waste every year. This is the equivalent of 150,000 double decker buses and would be enough to fill the new Wembley Stadium 6 times over.

Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle, electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination – harming wildlife and also human health.

How we can help...

So that you can get your old electrical products recycled, Tom Raffield make financial contributions toward the development of recycling collection points (known as Designated Collection Facilities) throughout the UK through membership of the Distributor Take Back Scheme (DTS). This means, for any new Tom Raffield electrical kit you purchase, you may take the kit you are replacing to your nearest recycling centre to recycle free of charge.

For your nearest recycling centre please check with your local council or see www.recycle-more.co.uk
