Introducing our Chelsea Flower Show Garden Stand 2020

Our 2020 Chelsea Flower Show Garden Stand brings a spiralling steam bent wooden pavilion with a large-scale sculptural bench and a thought-provoking woodland regeneration planting scheme to Main Avenue, drawing synergy from our rural Cornish studios and highlighting the importance of reducing the human impact on the planet through caring for nature, sustainable design practises and promoting a conscious lifestyle.

The focal point of our sustainability-focused stand will be a spiralling 100-meter timber bench, designed and handcrafted in Cornwall with seasoned hardwood transparently sourced and supplied by Beach Bros Limited. The fluid form of the peeling oak bench captures the essence of our steam bent aesthetic and demonstrates how we have reinvented this low-energy, ancient craft for a very twenty-first century purpose.

These limitless wooden curves will appear to evolve out of the surrounding undergrowth and trees, symbolising the connection to nature. Meandering its way through the ‘woodland regeneration’ meadow garden, the bench has been expertly designed in collaboration with RHS Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medallist, John Ward, and depicts how plentiful natural materials have the ability to both inspire design and become physical resources that don’t cost the earth.

Inside the pavilion itself will be a range of our bestselling designs, each of which will respond intuitively to the outdoor space, closing the loop between raw materials and the final product.

This year, our planting scheme will incorporate British native plants, foliage, trees and saplings chosen for their positive ecological influence and wildlife enhancing properties and supplied by The Tree Council.

Silver birch, hazel and oak trees interspersed by pockets of indigenous woodland-esque species such as ferns, ivy and woodruff surround the pavilion creating a sculptural effect. An array of lush-toned foliage will descend from roof-top planting pockets, elevated by our iconic Green Range Planters.

You can also see our work during Show Week at Tom Massey’s bio diverse ‘Organic Yeo Valley Garden’ in the shape of an interactive steam bent egg pod, which suspends its passengers over the Show Garden’s wetland habitat to provide a birds eye view.
