Contract: Permanent contract, 37.5 hrs a week.
Working Hours: 07:00 – 15:30. At present we do not work weekends or bank holidays, unless business demands it.
Location: This role is based at our workshops in Falmouth, Cornwall and you will be unable to work from home.

What You'll Be Doing
This is an entry level role. Your role as a Workshop Assistant will be to prepare parts and assist the Workshop Makers to make our iconic lighting range. This is a manufacturing role in which you will be provided with the relevant training and equipment to enable you to produce a consistent output, that meets our efficiency levels to deliver the daily/weekly schedule, quality control and expected product lead times. You will be part of a dynamic team who take care in their work and collaboratively produce and run an efficient, effective, and safe workshop and working environment.

- Be confident in using both machine-powered and hand-held tools.
- Be happy to perform manual and repetitive work.
- Have good manual dexterity and an eye for detail.
- Be confident in your maths skills, as this is a key part of your role in preparing company products.
- Be able to prioritise tasks, follow processes and instructions precisely.
- Be committed to producing high quality products, whilst working to tight deadlines.

Your Key Responsibilities

- Preparing and sanding raw materials, ready to be assembled by the Lighting workshop makers.
- Creating parts stock using a laser cutting machine.
- Measure and calculate quantities of stock.
- Input product data on to a computer.
- Consistently produce an efficient output of parts to meet daily/weekly schedule requirements within expected lead times.
- Assist your line manager by helping them run an efficient, effective, safe workshop and working environment.
- Aim for an increasing daily product output and assist with workshop activities, as instructed by your Workshop Coordinator.
- Gain relevant product knowledge: product ranges, wood types, components, stages, finishing, common problems, repairs, lead times, production times.
- Learn to quality control your own work, with the support from your line manager and senior colleagues.
- Record your own timings for each stage of production and aim to reduce them.
- Contribute to new & continuous ways of improvement of our workshop systems and processes, to help assist in creating efficient working practices.
- Active participation in the induction and skills training programme and practice skills with colleagues; learning from others; supporting the learning of colleagues.
- Ensure all Health and Safety requirements are adhered to.
- Ensure wastage is correctly, measured, calculated, recorded and reported.
