The journey of our Drift Pendant.Where it all started. Born in the barrel of a waking wave, the Drift Pendant is shaped by the reverberating tides that lap the Cornish coastline. Inspired by the power and grace of the Atlantic ocean, our unique pendant light ebbs, flows and rolls into your home, bringing with it the motion of seasonal Cornish swells.Six swells of sustainable, steam bent oak or walnut wood rise up and flow in undulating grace to create the Drift Pendant. The Drift Pendant is available in two wood types, each handcrafted exclusively from sustainably sourced timber. Five meters of sustainably sourced oak or walnut go in to each Drift Pendant we create. Fourteen individual precision laser-cut birch ply components make up the frame ready for the steam bent wood to be attached to. Our skilled team of makers handcraft each Drift carefully attaching a length of steam bent oak or walnut to its laser cut frame. Using a specially designed set of jigs and marking and cutting guides, each Drift Pendant is created with utmost care and attention to detail. Twelve solid brass Chicago screws hold each swell of oak or walnut perfectly against the laser cut frame - an environmentally friendly 'dry' construction process that removes the need for glues. Each Drift is then finished with several coats of an eco-friendly waterbased varnish, with a natural matt finish. This gives the wood more depth, seals the grain and brings out the rich tones and details of each piece. Once finished being made, each Drift Pendant is carefully handpacked by our logistics team using our 100% plastic free, custom designed cardboard and bamboo packaging, then sent to its forever home to become an heirloom of the future.
