Begin with Your Lighting Choice

Whether you’re planning a full room makeover or simply seeking a few impactful updates, lighting is a great place to start. It has the ability to instantly transform a room, shifting the mood from day to night. A sculptured striking wooden pendant like our Shoal Pendant for example, becomes a focal point during the day, while casting beautiful atmospheric shadows across the room during the evening. While wall lights such as our Cape Wall Light or Bue Stem Wall Light not only add an extra decorative touch to the walls, but also provide a soft ambient lighting that creates a cosy feeling after dark.

Let the Texture do the Talking

Resist the urge to go full nautical with bold navy and stark white. Instead, look to introduce a more refined and elevated approach by focusing on texture over colour. A neutral palette built around individual materials is a great place to start. Warm neutrals, wooden tones and soft fibres all work together to create a serene feeling that echoes the tranquil coastline, without being too literal.

Let Nature Lead the Way

If you’re lucky enough to look out onto a beautiful view, let the outside do the talking. Keeping your interior minimalistic will welcome in the light and ensure the scenic view remains a key focus.

Even without sweeping coastal views, there are still plenty of ways to capture the same calm, nature-inspired feeling. Sculptured wood that echoes the organic shapes and crashing waves of the coast, soft textiles that mimic sandy textures and thoughtfully chosen natural materials all help to create a space that feels grounded and tranquil. Adding elements like indoor greenery or framed landscape photography can add a subtle sense of connection to the outdoors.
