We're on the hunt for a Production Manager to join the Tom Raffield Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast paced dynamic team.

JOB TITLE: Production Manager


RESPONSIBLE TO: Managing Director


Job Purpose:

To manage and take overall responsibility for production, ensuring the scheduling of work is in line with orders, stock and out-going deliveries. Throughout, supporting both teams in achieving production processes and targets whilst maintaining an excellent standard of quality control, productivity and management skills.


• Scheduling - overall responsibility for the production flow of the team, liaising with the Supply Chain Manager to ensure raw materials are available and production targets can be achieved
• Daily meetings to ensure the schedule is updated and reported
• Organise, control and monitor the flow of production ensuring exceptional quality is maintained and achieved at all times
• To ensure the workshop teams are communicated with, trained, developed and valued for their contribution
• Oversee the logistics team – ensuring they are communicated with, managed, supported and valued in order to achieve their targets and deadlines in line with the schedule requirements
• Cross team co-ordination - ensuring communication between departments and managers in design, production, logistics and sales are ongoing and utilised to maintain an environment of efficiency and continuous improvement
• Optimisation and cost control - best use of equipment and processes, waste, planning, implementing systems, understanding ordering patterns in conjunction with the Supply Chain Manager
• Bespoke products – working closely with the installation team throughout stages to develop procedures, maintain efficiency and deliver on schedule
• Efficient and accurate administration skills, particularly with regards to paperwork for traceability and auditing
• H&S – management of overseeing H&S in the workshop and logistics departments, communicating issues and ensuring teams are trained and follow correct H&S procedures at all times
• New Product Development – involvement and understanding of plans, scheduling and launches, liaising with product development manager to ensure NPD is supported throughout
• Ensuring all staffing resources and equipment is utilised for maximum efficiency
• Reviewing all output of the workshop to continuously improve processes
• Planning and controlling change
• Ensure all equipment is maintained to a high operational standard at all times
• Oversee the commission and ordering of all tools and equipment
• Identify and oversee all necessary training when and where required
• Monitoring the performance of identified departments (conduct performance reviews/appraisals etc.)
• Implementation of any new procedures relating to the production process
• Ensuring all Tom Raffield Ltd company policies are adhered to
• Identify areas for continuous improvement and offer possible solutions
• Any other duties deemed within your capability



These responsibilities are essential in a small business where all members of the team are required to work flexibly and provide support in all and any area during busy periods:

When required:

• To stand in and support the team as required
• Support both the Supply Chain Manager and Health and Safety Officer and work with them to understand each role and to support absence cover
• Hands-on responsibility of production in case of absence

• Management level experience
• Industry experience including finishing processes
• Analytical approach to reviewing working practices, equipment etc.
