Job Title: Stock Control and Purchasing Officer

Permanent Contract: £21,000 per annum

Working pattern: This role is 40 hours per week and the hours are 08:00 – 16:30. At present we do not work weekends or bank holidays, unless business demands it. This role is based at our design studio in Falmouth, Cornwall.

What you’ll be doing…

You will carry out all purchasing, stock control and goods-in processes. Working closely with our Head of Operations, you will continue to manage and develop relationships with suppliers, the flow of goods and services, including refining internal processes, to ensure efficient delivery of our final products. Above all else, have a positive hardworking attitude and commitment to the challenge of working for an exciting young business. This is an exciting entry level role where we will provide you with the relevant training and equipment to support you in delivering maximum efficiency. You will report to the Head of Operations.

About you...

We are looking for a confident, self-driven and enthusiastic team member with a can-do attitude. Organisation and numerical skills are paramount to this role and the successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with a professional but personable character. You must take pride in your work, be able to work well autonomously and be an all-round people person. The candidate will be able to work well under pressure, through effective time management, prioritising workloads with efficiently and accuracy. Your key responsibilities

• Manage activities related to strategic purchasing, raw material requirements, stock control and warehousing to achieve production targets in accordance with Tom Raffield Ltd brand values.

• Tight control of goods-in and flow of stock processes to achieve high level of stock on hand accuracy.

• Analysis of stock levels against sales to order stock for future sales.

• Run a programme of regular stock counts, alongside Head of Operations, and create stock analysis reports to establish action plans.

• Control and constant review of Kanban re-order system on all parts.

• Forecast and order on all long lead parts to maintain workable stock levels.

• Fulfil the requirements for all company purchasing needs across main workshop, logistics, design, and studio departments.

• Ascertaining the needs for weekly purchase runs from all production departments.

• Carrying out supplier returns where necessary.

• Sourcing and purchasing for new product development.

• Proactive engagement with our suppliers to maintain excellent relations to ensure smooth and timely delivery of goods to site.

• Support the design team once new supplier relations in place in order to introduce the best suppliers at the earliest opportunity.

• Be aware of and highlight supplier performance to assess and ensure sustainable and transparent values.

• Liaise with design, production, and marketing to assist in forecasting demand and create supply plans, that ensure availability of materials or products.

• Understand the environmental and sustainable impact sourcing has on our products and markets.

• Understand and adhere to financial agreements and review on a regular basis.

• Cross team liaison – contributing towards communication between departments and managers in design, production, logistics, sales, and procurement are ongoing and create an environment of efficiency and continuous improvement.

• Report on supply chain issues and figures to Head of Operations

Your Skills

• High level of Microsoft Excel skills including a good ability with formulas.

• Wider computer literacy including Microsoft Office and other stock management systems.

• Strong numerical and analytical skills.

• Experience in stock management.

• Commercial experience in understanding efficiencies and economics of supply chain.

• Financial insight in order to manage stock control and purchasing within a manufacturing environment.

• Be able to handle a varied range of relationships, whilst being able to influence and negotiate, when necessary, in order to stabilise and ensure the success of the supply chain department.

• Be very flexible and adaptable, responding to the requirements of the business needs and find satisfaction in achieving targets against time.
