NEW: Sheepskin Rugs

10 January 2019

We've added some exciting new accessories to compliment our steam bent collections.

Cosy, soft and the perfect stylish accessory for any space...we've added two brand new Sheepskin Rugs to our Tom Raffield range to compliment our products. Both sheepskins look beautiful draped, thrown or hung from pieces such as our Arbor Armchair, Crib Bench and Amble Hanging Seat.

Dartmoor Shepherd Sheepskin

The Story:

The Dartmoor Shepherd team are on a mission to revive the numbers of beautiful, ancient breeds of sheep native to Devon and Cornwall. Passionate about farming their flocks in an ethical and sustainable way, their sheep roam the rugged hills of Dartmoor and their lambs enjoy up to double the lifespan of commercial sheep.

The Sheepskin:

Each of The Dartmoor Shepherd's Longwool Sheepskin Rugs are traditionally produced as a by-product of native Devon and Cornwall longwool sheep, one of the rarest breeds in the world with only 600 breeding ewes left.

The sheepskins are immensely durable, as the sheep have been bred to withstand the local Dartmoor landscape, they boast a unique naturally loose, chunky curl that is very unusual in modern breeds. Each sheepskin has been expertly tanned in Britain’s oldest tannery on the edge of Dartmoor and sustainably produced to the highest quality...It doesn’t get better than that.

Tom's tip - Choose this sheepskin if you're drawn to natural, rustic aesthetics and want a real 'wow' piece that's guaranteed to spark conversation for years to come.

Celtic Sheepskin

The Story:

With heritage and expertise in creating premium sheepskins since 1990, Celtic & Co design quality home accessories that are a by-product of the British farming industry and would otherwise go to waste.

The Sheepskin:

With sustainability at the forefront of their business, Cornish brand Celtic & Co only produce ethically-sourced sheepskins that use renewable, versatile woollen fibres and have a luxurious, silky aesthetic. The longwool sheepskins are renown for being incredibly durable and for maintaining their appealing natural shapes.

Tom's tip - Choose this sheepskin if you love a clean but cosy aesthetic. Each rug is precisely shaped and boasts a soft, almost shiny wool.
