Cornish Sustainablity Awards: Trophies 2017

The Cornish Sustainability Awards (CSA) aims to encourage, reward and gain recognition for local businesses doing their upmost to improve their own sustainability, and that of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly as a whole.
With Tom and Danielle Raffield’s Grand Designs home having won ‘Best Contribution to the Build Environment’ at the Cornwall Sustainability Awards 2016, our team were delighted to be asked to help design the trophies for this year’s CSA ceremony.

The trophies themselves are a creative collaboration between Tom Raffield and Leap Design. Callum Kiss, Designer for Tom Raffield explains the making process:
‘To create the trophies for the awards we shaped and twisted engraved wooden uprights using the low-tech method of steam bending, a traditional process steeped in history. Combining this traditional process with modern technologies such as laser cutting by Jenny at Cutbybeam and CNC cutting by Apply Works, the result is a set of unique awards showcasing how these techniques can come together and create something sustainable, innovative and beautiful.’
